Annie's Lane

A winery steeped in rich history and tradition, Annie’s Lane not only produces outstanding wine varieties, but its own fascinating story. The winery is a flawless example of the Clare Valley region and its ability to produce premium quality wines.

Founded in 1851 by Francis Treloar, Annie’s Lane boasts some of the oldest vines in Clare Valley. As the story goes, the local community in the region’s early days would help each other during busy times of the winemaking season. One winter, Annie Wayman’s horse-drawn cart struck difficulty on a muddy track after delivering lunches to workers pruning vines. From that day forward, the track became affectionately known as Annie’s Lane.

Annie’s Lane produces premium reds and table whites from 406 hectares under vine, with minimal intervention. With a loyal following, Annie’s Lane has won many accolades from varying events, including being awarded a gold medal for its 2012 Quelltaler Riesling at the 2013 Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show, as well as a gold medal for the 2008 Coppertrail Shiraz at the 2011 Royal Adelaide Wine Show.

Located in the heart of Watervale, the heritage-listed Quelltaler Estate is the home of Annie’s Lane. A large, century-old cellar features the winery’s cellar door, as well as its wine museum and gallery. Cast in solid timber and surrounded by picturesque picnic grounds, the cellar door is a superb place to unwind with a beautiful wine or baristamade coffee, cheese plate and local gourmet produce.

Offering delectable food and fine wine alongside a captivating and fruitful history, Annie’s Lane is worth the visit.
