Dominic Wines was established in 2005 by Brian and Michelle dominic, with a vision to supply and share quality wine with the world. located in the heart of the riverland, The dominics are fuelled by a passion for wine, the region and their family.

Dominic Wines owns and manages a combined total area under vine of almost 750 hectares, with vineyards also located in the premium winegrowing regions of the Barossa valley, langhorne Creek, Coonawarra and the adelaide Hills. The winery’s annual grape crush is approximately 10,000 tonnes, and it produces more than seven- million litres of wine each year.

Dominic Wines has been recognised both nationally and internationally for its wines and has won countless awards. The winery also uses sustainable and innovative practices in the growing and production of its wines.

The winery’s location – on the banks of the mighty Murray river in loxton – provides state-of-the-art facilities for the production and storage of its wines. This facility, combined with its use of both modern and traditional winemaking practices, ensures dominic Wines is able to highlight the quality characteristics in its wine, while also ensuring best industry practices.

Dominic Wines produces ten wines per year and specialises in shiraz, which accounts for approximately 70 per cent of its production. it produces other red varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot, and white varieties such as sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and pinot gris. dominic Wines also offers other varieties including shiraz rosé, moscato and apple cider, which are extremely popular among locals.

 

TASTING NOTES

2016 Basket Case Shiraz

This medium-to-full-bodied wine has dark crimson and purple hues and is bursting with flavours of sweet dark berries, raspberries and dark chocolate. The aromas of blackberry, mulberry and spice, as well as a hint of mint, cedar and vanilla, fill the palate. The wine’s rich fruit profile is balanced with subtle oak and features a firm, yet non- obtrusive, tannin structure.

2017 Basket Case Sauvignon Blanc

This wine has intense herbaceous aromatics of lemongrass, gooseberry and newly cut green grass, which are all complemented by freshly squeezed lime and sun-ripened passionfruit. it has a wonderful balance of lush, tropical fruit flavours and acidity. The mouthfeel is soft and sweetly rounded with a hint of grapefruit, which provides a lasting, yet zesty, finish.

2017 Basket Case Pinot Gris

The aromatics of white florals, honeysuckle and rose petals are delightfully integrated with freshly cut pear, white peach and nectarines. its palate is flooded with a refreshing and lively balance of ripe, fleshy stone fruit and baked apple. The fresh-fruit sweetness is coupled with a complex layer of creaminess that results in a long, elegant and lingering finish.

2014 Lantern Lights Barossa Valley Shiraz

This shiraz has intense aromas of mulberries, blackberries and red cherries, as well as hints of cedar and dried spices. The palate is deliciously generous with ripe, dark fruits, satin-like tannins, mocha, vanilla oak and roasted-chestnut complexity. it finishes long, sweet, smooth and velvety.
