Cirami Estate

Cirami Estate is a unique, not-for-profit organisation providing unconventional wines to the public since 2011. Producing small batches from fruit only grown on-site, Cirami Estate’s wines are made purely from alternative varieties.

The winery – named after vine research pioneer Richard Cirami – is in association with Riverland Vine Improvement, one of the largest producers of vine propagation material in Australia. Riverland Vine Improvement’s aim is to provide the viticulture industry with the knowledge and opportunity to grow alternative varieties in the hot inland region of Riverland.

Cirami Estate wines are now processed by winemaker, Eric Semmler, who was named 2013 Australian Winemaker of the Year.

Cirami Estate is renowned for the new and unusual varieties it has produced. Each year, there is another unique wine released. Riverland Vine Improvement is committed to trialling imported alternative varieties for the wine industry to assess the potential within Australia.

Recently, several Greek varieties were imported, from which wines will be produced in 2021 and 2022. The demand for exciting new wines is increasing each year and Cirami Estate is happy to accommodate.

Over the past few years, Cirami Estate’s selection of wines has grown in popularity, and the company is quickly becoming one to watch! Keep an eye on Cirami Estate – you never know what might be coming up.

2014 Cirami Estate Lagrein

“Deep purple to crimson. Theoretically, this cool-climate Italian variety should be like a square peg in a round hole in the hot Riverland climate, but it’s not. Instead, this is a wine with black and glacé cherry fruit, spice and a splash of chocolate. 93 points.” – James Halliday

2014 Cirami Estate Montepulciano

“An intriguing bouquet with nuances of sage, cinnamon and cherry. The palate is a mix of savoury herb and spicy notes, alongside the red cherry fruit and fine tannins. An elegant wine. 91 points.” – James Halliday

2015 Cirami Estate Verdejo

This wine is light gold with pale green hues and has aromatic floral aromas, with fresh apricot, citrus, straw and honey notes. On the palate there are vanilla, fresh green bean, pome fruit and spring sap flavours. It has a long, soft and textural length with a clean finish.

2015 Cirami Estate Albarino

The Albarino has light and bright honey hues with green tints and aromas of lemon and lime blossom, vanilla and rose petal. The palate is delightfully full and creamy, with soft and textural weight and a crisp fresh finish.
