Doc Adams Wines

Located in the heart of McLaren Vale, Doc Adams Wines specialises in handcrafted premium varieties.

Doc Adams Wines was established in 2005 by viticulturist Adam Jacobs and orthopaedic surgeon Dr Darren Waters. With a focus on fruit-driven wines, minimal intervention and quality products, Doc Adams Wines specialises in varieties that grow optimally in McLaren Vale’s Mediterranean climate.

These include shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, grenache and merlot/mataro. The winery has won many accolades, including a trophy and gold medals at many prominent Australian and international wine shows.

Opening its cellar door in October 2016, the Doc Adams Wines team pride itself on treating visitors to an enjoyable, relaxed approach to wine tasting. The family- friendly winery has a number of spacious lawn areas, as well as a large undercover verandah that is surrounded by beautiful vines and an Australian bushland setting.

The cellar door is the perfect venue for functions and special events. It offers a unique ‘Design Your Own Platter’ style of dining, where guests can choose from a variety of locally sourced gourmet produce, which can be customised to suit all tastes and budgets. A range of other special additions to the cellar door include locally produced beer, espresso martinis, artisan coffee and Doc Adams Wines’ very own Doc Tail, which is a moscato and gin cocktail.

The winery was recently awarded the 2017 McLaren Vale Cellar Door of the Year accolade for outstanding customer service, exceptional quality and unwavering support of the McLaren Vale wine region.
Doc Adams Wines is the perfect stop-off destination on the way to and from the Fleurieu Peninsula. There is always something new and exciting happening, from events and functions, to new-release wines and specials. Be sure to keep your eye out for the wine dog Buddy. He loves roaming through the vineyards and welcoming visitors.

2015 Doc Adams Tempranillo

The Doc Adams Tempranillo has a sensational purple-red colour that extracts brilliantly in the glass. Aromas of charry oak and liquorice dominate throughout the palate, creating a wine that is extremely rich and flavoursome. This wine was awarded a gold medal at the 2017 Cairns Wine Show.

2015 Doc Adams GSM

The 2015 Doc Adams GSM is brilliant and vibrant in colour. It displays fragrant aromas of blueberry, rose petals and geraniums. With beautiful fruit characters of cherry and mulberry, exotic spice notes of cardamom and cinnamon follow through on the palate. This wine was awarded four stars in the Winestate Magazine.

2015 Doc Adams Premium Cabernet Sauvignon

The Doc Adams Premium Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant dark red colour. Arriving from the wonderful old vines and soils of McLaren Vale, the wine presses rich aromas of mocha and cherry chocolate. Juicy and aromatic flavours flow through, which showcases a smooth and velvety palate.

2015 ‘1838 First Vines’ Shiraz

This 2015 vintage shiraz is big, rich and robust. The wine comes from more than 100-year-old vines. On the nose, the initial aromas present sweet coconut oak, following through with intense flavours of dark coffee and smoky charcoal hues, combined with concentrated berries. This wine was awarded 94 points by James Halliday.
