Kellermeister Barossa Valley

Kellermeister Barossa Valley was founded by Ralph and Val Jones in 1976, and was one of the first boutique cellar door and wineries to open in the Barossa Valley. In 2009, Mark Pearce joined the winery and in 2012, the Pearce family purchased the winery and have since worked hard to build on its 35-year legacy. The Pearce family’s main goal is to handcraft wines that express the purity and provenance of the Barossa.

Producing around a dozen quality wines per year, Kellermeister Barossa Valley owns 30 acres of estate shiraz, mataro and grenache vines. The winery is renowned for its stunning views from its mud-brick cellar door, which stands as a rustic reminder of the burning-red ironstone soil that makes the Barossa a unique and superb winegrowing region.

The award-winning winery has received a range of international accolades in recent years, including trophies for The World’s Best Shiraz, Australia’s Best Shiraz, and The Barossa’s Best Shiraz at the London International Wine Challenge in 2012, for its flagship Wild Witch Shiraz.

Recently awarded the Barossa Trust Mark seal of quality, and with plenty of lawn area perfect for picnicking or kicking around a football, Kellermeister Barossa Valley is the perfect place to taste excellent wine, cider and fresh local produce platters, offering a truly authentic Barossan experience. When planning your visit, check to see if the famous Friday night pig-on-a-spit dinner is being held, as it was recently awarded the title Best Wine Event by the global beer, wine and spirits magazine, Drinks International.

2013 Wild Witch Shiraz

Showcasing the most magical elements of each Barossan vintage, the quality of this wine is truly exceptional. The intrinsic power, dimension and surprising elegance brings even the most indulgent connoisseur under its long, intense and luxurious spell. Elegant blue fruits, blackcurrant, truffles and fine silky tannins scored this wine 97 points in the 2017 Halliday Wine Companion.

2015 Black Sash Shiraz

This evocative wine has been handcrafted with the use of traditional methods from the fruit of old vines. Delivering a rich, opulent palate, and a fleshy core of dark-fruit sweetness, this wine finishes with superb length. The addition of deep black fruits, chocolate and spice has scored this wine 97 points in the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion.

2012 Firstborn Single Vineyard Shiraz

This wine was sourced from the Threefold Farm vineyard – a unique site in the lower slopes of the Barossa Valley’s eastern range – which has five acres of shiraz plantings, one acre of grenache and one acre of mataro. Licorice, blue fruit, and milk chocolate flavours and aromas won this wine a gold medal at the 2014 Vienna International Wine Challenge.

2014 Pious Pioneer Dry Grown Shiraz

Dry-grown shiraz grapes were handpicked from vines watered solely by natural rainfall, which has resulted in smaller grapes with a more intense colour and flavour. As a result, this shiraz has a generous flavour and rich texture with opulent and juicy blood plums. This wine scored 95 points in the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion.
