Gibson Wines

Outside the picturesque village of Light Pass sits a hidden treasure – an original mid-19th century settler’s cottage and the cellar door of Gibson Wines. Producing quality, award winning wines from the rammed red earth of northern Barossa Valley, Gibson Wines attributes its modern success to its rich historical heritage.

A winemaker with a wealth of experience, Rob Gibson established Gibson Wines in 1995. Now, with vineyards in Light Pass and Eden Valley, Gibson Wines produces 12 wines per year and specialises in shiraz and merlot. Other varieties include riesling and pinot gris, as well as roscato, sparkling merlot and botrytis semillon.

Nestled next to the Isabelle vineyard, the Gibson Wines cellar door is a modern, family-friendly site that features a pétanque court, hopscotch and toys for children.

Six times per year Gibson Wines holds its Sunday Funday event; a relaxed afternoon full of music, food and wine which is a must-see for visitors in the area. For those seeking a casual afternoon, the winery encourages visitors to cook their own fare on its barbecue facility, free of charge. Locally-produced chutneys, sauces and olive oils are also available for purchase at the cellar door.

Gibson Wines was awarded a silver medal for its 2012 Reserve Shiraz at the 2014 Syrah du Monde competition and given 4.5 stars at Winestate magazine’s World’s Great Shiraz Challenge. Having also been rated as a 5-star winery in James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion, Gibson Wines has etched its importance in the Barossa Valley wine region.
