Situated in Barossa Valley’s beautiful and gently-rugged western ridge is Tscharke. The Tscharke family’s name stretches back to the mid-1800s as one of the first settling families in the region, and the family has relished its rich history of farming and winemaking ever since.

The love of producing grapes was passed through the family to reach sixth generation farmer and vigneron, Damien Tscharke, who in the year 2000 completed his Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree in viticulture and oenology with honours. For the last 14 years, Damien Tscharke has taken the winery to new levels, raising the bar for progressive and sustainable winemaking practices in the Barossa Valley region.

Tscharke’s original vineyards consisted of the classic varieties of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, mataro and grenache, and are the fruit source for the company’s limited, single-vineyard, single-varietal, estate-produced wines. With a contemporary focus on sustainability from the soil up, Tscharke’s vineyards have been further developed to include European grape varieties that are new to Australian viticulture. Indeed, Tscharke introduced montepulciano to Australian soil and was awarded the 2004 Peter Olson Fellowship for Innovation and Outstanding Performance in Agriculture.

Creating a unique, sustainable space that is both a reflection of its origins and an enjoyable place to be is at the heart of Tscharke’s philosophy and vision for the winery.

Visiting Tscharke will take you on a tasting journey, exploring emerging wines as well as Barossa Valley’s regional classics, all while learning a little about Tscharke’s dynamic viticultural practices along the way.

2017 Tscharke Girl Talk Savagnin

With a lifted aromatic profile, this wine gives way to fresh aromas of green apple, quince and citrus blossom. It has a classic varietal structure, and the nose follows through on the palate, which has a crisp and clean finish. Optimum drinking temperature is 13°C.

2016 Tscharke The Master Montepulciano

Aromatic and lifted, this wine’s enticing aromas will keep you coming back for more. The layered palate is textural, seductive and seamless; rich red fruits and ripe raspberry are interwoven with soft chalky tannins to create an incredible structure and great length for the perfect finish.

2015 Tscharke Shiraz Shiraz Shiraz

Tscharke’s three shiraz vineyards produce a complex and balanced wine that’s layered with dark fruit and red cedar. Ripe fruit characters flow through the palate; fruit- cake richness, savoury spice, and dusty, persistent tannins provide a refreshing display of shiraz flavours. This blend will drink well until 2021.

2016 Tscharke Gnadenfrei Vineyard Grenache

With only 3000 bottles produced, this wine is a vibrant red colour with enough transparency to reveal its identity. Alluring aromatics of earth, red-fruit spice, Turkish delight and toffee apple combine to deliver a delicate palate. This crunchy grenache is elegantly textured, persistent and delicious.
