Gomersal Wines

In 1887, a boutique winery was established in the small town of Gomersal. Over a century later, it is now home to Gomersal Wines. Situated in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Gomersal Wines embraces the district’s time-honoured and traditional approach to winemaking. The results are wines of exquisite character and intensity that colourfully reflect the region and its surrounding environment.

Complemented by its picturesque cellar door, scenic vineyards and charming customer service, Gomersal Wines offers an enchanting experience. Its selection of quality regional wines can be savoured from its spacious eucalypt hardwood veranda, all while soaking in the surrounding views of magnificent gums and vineyards. Explore the vast range of wines in the high-ceiling tasting room, or visit the Barrel Room and enjoy a delicious seasonal platter.

Gomersal Wines’ restaurant serves two delicious platters showcasing quality local food from the region. The dukkha plate and regional platter are a delightful mix of fresh and local produce such as Tornzi olives, Gomersal vineyard olive oil, Barossa Valley Cheese Company cheeses and Apex Bakery wood-oven bread, which are sure to satisfy.

Specialising in shiraz and GSM, Gomersal Wines produces wines from 20 hectares under vine. A passion for continuing traditional winemaking techniques has afforded many awards, including winning a gold medal at the 2014 International Wine Challenge for the Gomersal Wines Reserve Shiraz. Spoil your palate while learning more about the winemaking philosophy at Gomersal Wines – an experience that won’t disappoint.

TASTING NOTES

2012 Gomersal Wines Reserve Shiraz

Aromas of dark plum and chocolate combine perfectly with flavours of blackberry and licorice to produce a balanced, full-bodied wine with structure and length. Drinks beautifully now and will reward cellaring for a further 15 years.

2013 Gomersal Wines Premium Eden Valley Riesling

This riesling combines lifted aromas of lychee and citrus undertones, with crisp pear, lemon and lime flavours producing a balanced wine with complexity and length. Best enjoyed now with your favourite Thai dish or seafood platter.

2012 Gomersal Wines Premium Cabernet Sauvignon

This cabernet sauvignon combines vibrant aromas of chocolate and blackcurrant, with flavours of ripe plum and mint, producing a full- bodied wine that drinks beautifully now and will reward medium-term cellaring. Ideal with a lamb roast or veal medallions.

2009 Gomersal Wines GSM

In the classic tradition of blending wines, this is a great GSM. Bushvine grenache and mataro are blended with the best shiraz and left in hogshead barrels for 30 months to mature. While difficult to resist drinking now, these lovely flavours will esterify to enrich your enjoyment for many years to come.
