Lou Miranda Estate

Lou Miranda Estate is a family-owned boutique winery based in the Barossa Valley. Established in 2005 by Lou and Valerie Miranda – and with the help of their daughters Lisa and Victoria – the family produces premium quality wines using fruit from their own Barossa Valley vineyards.

The beautiful winery with its warm and inviting cellar door is also home to a restaurant that boasts cathedral-style windows, allowing you to overlook the picturesque market garden and vineyard while dining.

The modern-style restaurant has a noticeable Italian influence, and lunch is served by Lou and his daughters seven days a week. The restaurant is a great place to enjoy spectacular wines and delicious food in the company of family and friends.

The overall achievement of Lou Miranda Estate is a combination of traditional family elements with world-class winemaking techniques.

With over 31 hectares under vine, the family produces 17 wines per year of a wide variety. Some of Lou Miranda Estate’s specialties include its pinot grigio with soft pear overtones, a bold old-vine shiraz, and an old-vine mourvèdre, which is a combination of the spice from shiraz and the softness of mourvèdre – truly the best of both worlds.

With years of winemaking experience and continued discipline in picking only the best fruits for its hand-crafted wines, it’s no wonder Lou Miranda Estate has won many local and international awards – including gold for its 2012 Lou Miranda Estate Leone Shiraz. The company believes that you can only make great wine with great fruit, and this philosophy is the benchmark for all Lou Miranda Estate wines.

2014 Lou Miranda Estate Leone Pinot Grigio

A fresh blend of pear and green apple flavours, which in its subtlety is sure to please. The soft, elegant palate shows hints of spice with balanced citrus length.

2010 Lou Miranda Estate Old Vine Shiraz

Sourced from the 100-year-old Barossa Valley vineyard planted in 1907. The fruit is carefully selected and the wine displays generous red berry flavours, hints of spice and a soft vanillin oak finish. Matured in oak for 20 months, it typifies the varietal characters of Barossa Valley shiraz, offering great palate length and excellent tannin structure.

2012 Lou Miranda Estate Old Vine Shiraz Mourvèdre

Fruit is sourced from the dry-grown Angel’s Vineyard planted in 1897. The full-bodied palate has generous red berry fruits with the mourvèdre adding lovely spice and fruitcake flavours. Seductive oak, as a result of 20 months of barrel maturity, lingers on the palate. A very unique parcel of wine with approximately 200 dozen produced per year.

2012 Lou Miranda Estate Sagrantino

This first vintage from the estate- grown vineyard showcases the potential for Italian varieties to be grown in the region. The sagrantino has a lifted bouquet of red fruits and hints of plum; the earthy depth of this wine is impressive. The palate has exquisite natural tannins which accentuate the complex sagrantino character.
