St Hallett

From humble beginnings with little more than a galvanised shed with a naked light bulb, a couple of concrete fermenters and a basket press, the Lindner family battled through the years to lay the foundations for St Hallett. With an initial focus on fortified wines, St Hallett shifted its attention in the 1980s to producing a premium range of table wines and has never looked back.

St Hallett specialises in beautiful, brooding shiraz, shiraz blends and single-vineyard wines, for which the unique and iconic Barossa Valley region is renowned. St Hallett understands the importance of capturing the old vines of the Barossa Valley, and this recognition and appreciation reveals the rich textures, depth and diversity of the region’s grapes. Over time, St Hallett has developed its prowess for producing a high-quality drop.

The cellar door is located near the banks of the Para River, right in the very heart of the Barossa Valley. A visit to the site will ensure a tasting of the highly lauded St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, as well as the opportunity to take advantage of exclusive cellar door offerings. A beautiful location with a unique tasting experience – what’s not to love?

With a commitment to energy management and sustainability, St Hallett embraces its role as caretaker of the land on which it sits. An undeniable respect for the Barossa Valley and extensive winemaking experience propels St Hallett to be one of the greats of the Barossa Valley region.

TASTING NOTES

St Hallett Old Block Shiraz

A homage to the beautiful old shiraz vines of the Barossa Valley. This wine is one of the region’s most cellared, with 30 vintages dating back to 1980. The grapes that make the St Hallett Old Block Shiraz are sourced from vineyards between 80 and 120 years old from both the Barossa and Eden Valleys.

St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz

This wine is named after Stuart Blackwell, who has been a St Hallett winemaker for more than 40 years. The deep, dark brooding character of the 2013 Blackwell Shiraz has all the flavours that made the Barossa Valley and its shiraz so synonymous.

St Hallett Eden Valley Riesling

The elevation of the Eden Valley region results in cool nights, even at the peak of summer. This is the perfect climate for riesling, and St Hallett sources its fruit from a small selection of growers scattered throughout the Eden Valley.

St Hallett Touriga Nacional

This wine is only available through St Hallett’s cellar door. Touriga is a unique variety with a wildly vibrant purple colour and an intensely floral aroma. Planted in small quantities, it was originally used as a blending tool for fortified wines.
