Saltram Wine Estate

Situated on 45 hectares of land in Barossa Valley, Saltram Wine Estate relishes its beautiful vistas, rich heritage and award winning wines, and delights in sharing the property with its visitors.

Arriving aboard the Caroline, William Salter settled in South Australia from England in 1839. As one of the first people to purchase land in Barossa Valley, William laid the foundations of what would become Saltram Wine Estate. Over its 150-year history, the estate has seen two influential winemaking families pass through its doors – the Salters and the Dolans – and continues to produce wine that is admired by those in the wine industry and wine enthusiasts alike.

Saltram Wine Estate has enjoyed a successful past year, winning a gold medal at the 2013 Perth Royal Wine Show, and being awarded the Gramp, Hardy, Hill Smith prize for

Outstanding Wine of Provenance at the 2013 Royal Adelaide Wine Show. The winery also won the Best White Wine Trophy and Best Italian White Varietal Trophy at the 2012 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show for its Winemaker’s Selection Fiano.

Not only does Saltram Wine Estate create award winning varieties, it also offers Salter’s Kitchen, the winery’s on-site restaurant. Serving modern, hearty dishes, Salter’s Kitchen’s seasonal menu proudly showcases magnificent regional produce and freshly- baked breads from its wood-fire oven. Additionally, the property also provides visitors with two event rooms to hold a special wedding, birthday or conference. Whatever the event, Saltram Wine Estate is a unique setting to be savoured.

With a relaxing and charming experience awaiting its visitors, Saltram Wine Estate will make its guests feel right at home.

TASTING NOTES

2010 Saltram No. 1 Shiraz

The palate is full and powerful with rich, elegant, varietal flavours of cassis, blood plum and cherries. Further chocolate and licorice notes complete the offering, following right through to the finish. This is a sumptuous wine with soft ripe tannins and great structure. The textured palate is long, generous and even, leaving the mouth with a lingering minerality.

2010 Saltram Single Vineyard Moculta Road Shiraz

This wine is a savoury example of Barossa Valley, with great depth of flavour. Savoury characters of black olive verging on tapenade are complemented by lush dark fruit sweetness of plum and berry fruits. The palate is rich with savoury, earthy tannins, lush dark berry fruit flavours and savoury spice, creating a long and seamless finish of texture to savour.

2014 Saltram Winemaker’s Selection Fiano

This fiano exhibits notes of lemongrass, fig and lime with a touch of spice and fresh almonds. The palate is generously textured with a slaty-mineral finish. A great match for foods, especially with Asian dishes.

2013 Saltram Mamre Brook Riesling

This wine is perfumed with intense aromas of citrus blossom, bath salts and fresh green limes. It has a soft, juicy palate of fresh green limes and hints of lemon. The flavours on the palate are supported by talcy acidity which provides length, purity and finesse.
